Every once in awhile I really wish we lived back in California. We could attend things like the International Buddhist Film Festival for one thing.

“Both abundance and lack exist simultaneously in our lives, as parallel realities. It is always our conscious choice which secret garden we will tend... when we choose not to focus on what is missing from our lives but are grateful for the abundance that’s present — love, health, family, friends, work, the joys of nature and personal pursuits that bring us pleasure — the wasteland of illusion falls away and we experience Heaven on earth.”

happy new year! i hope 2005 is wonderful for you.
i had a pretty sleepless night. it’s super windy (cold, from the north) and it’s been shaking the house all night. plus daechen was a little restless and my mind was even more restless.
i don’t really do new years resolutions, but i did spent the night thinking about the coming year. we are house-sitting until the end of may, which is fantastic. we’re able to live with just me working, but barely. we’ve got (like just about everyone else in the united states) debt up to our ears. and our income barely exceeds our bills. i was trying to come up with some way for us to make a little income on the side. i thought a few things, but mostly i’m just stressed about having to pay rent again...
of course, that is six months away and maybe some big break will come along before then. any ideas?
