another day in paradise

it was pointed out to me that i haven’t posted anything on my site for over a year. here is what you’ve all been missing for nearly every day i haven’t posted:

5:22 am: i wake up with a start feeling like i’m forgetting something.
5:55 am: alarm goes off. i hit snooze, as i’m now in my deepest sleep of the night.
6:05 am: get up. dress. coffee. make lunch. christina’s coffee & sticky note.
6:35 am: leave for work. npr or ipod.
6:50 am: arrive at work... at least 15 minutes before everyone else. (from here until 3:30 or 4:00 the schedule has massive variations, but generally i make cabinets and countertops then i install said items.)
3:31 pm: at least every other day must have 5 minute “weather” conversation with my dad.
3:45 pm: home at last. work on house, computer, etc. if i have time, a shower.
5:15 pm: girls come home. at least three solid hours of intense attention is then paid to making sure the princess of the house is occupied and not breaking stuff. plus we eat and sort of watch movies (mostly the “greatest animated features of all time”.)
8:30 pm: we say goodnight to the buddhas and read a bedtime story.
8:45 pm: tv. books. quiet time. alone time.
10:30 pm: bed.

saturday and sunday have their own deal, but basically include larger blocks of intense attention to the wants and needs of said princess.

having a three year old is like being the entire production staff for probably one of the greatest movies ever to be made. but really only a couple people to do all of that work. man, it’s intense. i’m not complaining because it’s great, but writing, playing guitar, making guitars, setting up a screen printing press, starting a radio station, keeping up on current music and politics... this stuff suffers at the expense of having to provide another human life and happiness.
